Traveling for baby boomers has always been a vital part of life and with today’s awesome smart phones and tablets, getting out there has never been more convenient. Check out some cool travel apps for the summer of 2013:
Vibe: With over 200 million registered users, Vibe allows you to avoid roaming charges by being able to text and make phone calls to other users of the apps. You will need wifi, though, so it may to be applicable in all scenarios. It’s free and available across a variety of mobile platforms.
OurCast: Up to date weather reports by way of crowd sourcing. This free app encourages users to input weather data so it’s immediate and fresh for other users. This app is great for impromptu hiking trips or planning what clothes your going to need for the day. This app is only available on iOS devices.
EPA’s SunWise UV Index: For the sun conscious boomer, this app is a must have. This free app lets you know up to date UV ratings based on your location. It also offers tips and tricks for how to deal with potentially volatile UV levels. This app is available for most mobile devices.
My TSA App: For those paranoid about what they can or cannot travel with, MY TSA App is essential. It’s pretty much a constantly updating database of prohibited items by the TSA. It also offers info about flight delays, security line times and more. This app is free and available only on iOS devices.
Weber’s On The Grill App: For all the meat minded BBq heads out there, the Weber app contains over 200 recipes harvested from the official Weber Cookbook with great pictures letting you know that your grilling styles have some catching up to do. The app relays critical BBq and grilling tips to help avoid mishaps and also includes a grilling timer, not that your phone doesn’t have that already. This app is priced at $5 and is available for android and iOS.
