Baby Boomers And Hearing Loss

When we think of a baby boomer’s life, we tend to think of Rock & Roll.  And when we think of Rock & Roll we think of very loud concerts.  Now as the oldest baby boomers turn 67, their good times are coming back to haunt them by way of hearing loss.

While the above statements may only partially be true, baby boomer hearing loss is on the rise.  Doctors are reporting that more women that men are reporting losses in hearing.  Men, as per usual are stubborn and probably won’t admit that they are suffering from hearing loss.

Presbycusis is actually the official hearing loss term and just like the CDC is urging Boomers to go in for Hep C testing, they are also requesting that boomers get to the doctor for a hearing test.  It could literally make all the difference.

Workplace noise can also attribute to hearing loss so for all the blue collar boomers out there be forewarned.  And while hearing aides are probably the farthest thing from being cool, wouldn’t you rather hear??

As more and more cool boomers require hearing aides more and more companies will strive to make hearing aides as small and little seen as possible.  If you are really concerned about your hearing that you should seek out an audiologist.  They will be able to truly test your hearing and see if you need any type of aide.  Also, if you are going to see any concerts any time soon be sure to pack some ear plugs!
